On 26 October 2011, in conjunction with the Graham Fulford Trust, Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions hosted a PSA
(Prostate health) screening event in Stourbridge. As our male Lions were happy to admit, men are reluctant
to talk about health issues and this event was designed to both provide local men with a free confidential prostate health
check and also raise awareness of men’s health issues, in an informal environment and at a convenient time.
Following heavy coverage in local media (including support
from our friends at The Bridge Radio), the event was attended by over 450 local men. Our consultant urologist,
Mr. David Baxter-Smith, who was present at the event believes ,as a result of this event, around 25 local men will receive
an early diagnosis that will help save their lives.
