We would once again like to thank these organisations for their help and assistance without which we would not be able to do the Santa Runs.

10th March 2011

Kingswinford & Stourbridge and Dudley Lions Club have recently joined forces in the name of education. A primary school in Colleygate, Halesowen have an air raid shelter in the school grounds. This was saved from demolition when the school was refurbished and it was decided that it would be restored to be used by the children during history projects. Through the local media the school sent out a plea for wooden benches to be used in the shelter, the two Lions Clubs came to the rescue and on 10th March a joint presentation was made of 4 benches. The Deputy Head said that they also had a tape of the air raid sirens and other sound effects which would be installed in the shelter so that the children would be able to experience what former pupils had encountered

Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.
On the death of a long standing member of the Kingswinford &Stourbridge Lions Club Derek Pitt in 2009, it was decided by the Club to attempt to raise £5000 to cover the cost of sponsoring the purchase and training of a dog through the charity Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in his memory.

The Club are pleased to report that they have now achieved their target thanks to various efforts including a sponsored six hour solo walk of 20miles along the Staffordshire and Worcester Canal by Lion Graham Foster which raised £1000.

A presentation took place on Tuesday 8th February at Stourbridge Institute and Social Club at which a representative from Hearing Dogs for the Deaf was present with a Hearing Dog undergoing training. In attendance was the Mayor of Dudley Councillor Peter Miller, an Honorary Member of Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions Club. Invitations were extended to all who made individual donations to the Fund
