10 Pin Bowling Challenge Kingswinford
and Stourbridge Lions Club were pleased to accept the challenge thrown down by Dudley Lions to a 10 Pin Bowling Contest at
the Bowlplex Bowling Alley Dudley. The contest took place on Monday 17th Mat 2010, 12 volunteers from each
Club turned up for the event which was a long awaited rematch following many such encounters in the past when the winners
were awarded the “Chambers” pot. This trophy was presented by a Past President of Dudley Lions to the winning
team – unfortunately the whereabouts of the “Chambers” pot has been lost in the annals of time so the winners
this time had to make do with the knowledge that they would have won the Pot if we knew where it was. My memories of past events are that Kingswinford & Stourbridge
Lions always won (so we probably are guilty of losing the “Pot”) so it was no surprise that we came out on top
once again! Dudley Lions only claim to fame is that they had the highest score by a lady, Kingswinford & Stourbridge winning
the overall contest with the highest male score in a game, the highest individual score over the 2 games played and the highest
team score overall. Dudley
Lions, who are not ones to give in easily, immediately asked Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions to arrange a rematch at
a contest of our choice – so watch this space for details. The evening was great fun and enjoyed
by all those who took part, as Lions we enjoy he friendly rivalry and the chance to get together with like minded people from
other Clubs in the area. We can’t wait for the rematch!

Midnight Walk.
4 Lions manned the Caravan to serve hot and cold drinks to over 300 ladies of all ages. It was a
lovely mild evening and the crowds were happy. The band played before they all set off at 11pm and it was great to see
hundreds of "pink ears" all lit up as they were dancing and later walking around the 1 mile circuit of Himley Park. Some
people walked 4 miles, others bravely walked 8 miles. The last walkers came in around 1 - 30-am - 1-40am, everyone was
weary, but they all seemed to have enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendship, joined by a common interest - to raise money
for Mary Sevens Hospice and the research and treatment of Cancer. The 4 Lions then
cleaned and packed up the caravan and left an almost empty park at around 2.10am. A
very good night was had by all, as you can see from the photographs there was a lull in "hot drinks" so
the gentlemen Lions took to the floor ,and danced to the band!!

Kingswinford and Stourbridge
Lions attended the “The Dawley Brook Scouts Bonfire and Fireworks Evening” with our catering caravan from which
we sold doughnuts, candy floss. There were plenty of attractions at the event including a small Fun Fair
with a couple of scary rides and some more traditional sideshows such as a Coconut Shy. The gates opened at 5.30pm and by
7.00pm the bonfire was well ablaze to the delight of the many people attending.
The Firework display started at
8.00pm and was very impressive lasting about twenty minutes. The photo shows the Lions in full swing with queues of people waiting
to be served with our legendary freshly cooked doughnuts and freshly made candy floss.
Demand for our food was constant throughout the evening and we eventually stopped serving at 9.00pm
when the event finished.
